The scenes of the forest were made up in 1849, the fertile year!
But at that time already, Schumann is completely conscious of the disorders which gain it and invade it little by little. “To create as long as it will be dawning”
is its currency of the year 1849.
It acts here, of a cycle of nine parts. Schumann finds a little lyricism of some of its early works, like the scenes of
children. These new miniatures are organized around the tonality of major B flat, perhaps the preferred tonality of Schumann.
The forest is a topic scour in the German romanticism.
Each one of these nine parts has a title, just like each scene of children.

Op 68, Schumann had forsaken the piano almost completely since the Carnival of Vienna
Op 26 and made up Lovesongs Op 28 in 1839.
